The First International Symposium on Frontiers in THz Technology (FTT 2012) was held in Nara, Japan, to review the rapid advancements in terahertz (THz) technologies and to explore emerging trends and future directions in the field. The second symposium (FTT 2015) took place in Hamamatsu in 2015, followed by the third in Fukui in 2022 (FTT 2022). Now, in 2025, it is time to convene the Fourth FTT.
FTT provides a comprehensive platform covering a broad spectrum of research and development in THz science and technology—from fundamental studies to practical applications, including information and communication technologies. Topics to be discussed at the symposium include, but are not limited to:
The Symposium on the Frontier of Terahertz Science (S-FTS) has been held annually from 2014 to 2024 as a domestic conference, with Japanese as the official language. It is jointly organized by the following four groups:
The symposium serves as a platform for researchers from diverse fields to engage in interdisciplinary exchange on terahertz and related technologies, which have seen rapid advancement in recent years. It aims to foster new research that transcends conventional disciplinary boundaries.
We believe it would be beneficial for the terahertz science and technology community to jointly hold the two symposia with similar missions this year, with the addition of the Institute of Post-LED Photonics, Tokushima University, the host institute of the venue, and the Consortium of Industry-Academia Collaboration on Terahertz Science, Technology, and Industrial Development, — the successor to the 182nd Committee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science on Industry-Academia Cooperation in Terahertz Wave Science, Technology, and Industrial Development.
We sincerely hope that many people will participate in FTT 2025 & S-FTS 2025 and that it will foster fruitful discussions on terahertz science and technology.
